Dr. Gerard Mazza MD
Medical Director
Dr. Mazza has served Southeast Tennessee for 34 years across family, emergency, occupational, and urgent care medicine. He graduated from the University of South Florida and completed his family medicine residency at United Hospital Center in Clarksburg, West Virginia. He is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He leads DPCA's clinics toward the thing that made him take the job: patients who know their provider by name.

Dr. Eric Coker MD

Dr. Coker grew up in Wilmore, Kentucky and came to medicine sideways. He took a chemical engineering degree at the University of Kentucky, spent four years as a Navy Nuke instructor, then went back for medicine at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine and completed his residency at Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune. He joined DPCA in 2022.

Dr. David Byrd MD
Family Medicine
Dr. Byrd is East Tennessee born, from Elizabethton. He took a BA in history and Spanish at ETSU in 1984 and graduated from ETSU's Quillen College of Medicine in 1988, a program built for rural medicine and primary care. He volunteered as an EMT through college and still serves as a McMinn County hazmat technician and reserve deputy. He is Board Eligible with the American Board of Family Practice and a Certified Medical Review Officer.
Medical Director of the volunteer Good Faith Clinic for the uninsured in Athens.
Precision shooting, gardening, fruit harvesting, and raising shrimp and turtles. He lives in Athens with his wife Jennie Byrd, MD.
Stacy Flowers FNP
Family Nurse Practitioner
Stacy started as a registered nurse in ICU step-down, trauma ICU, hospice, and the emergency room, then earned her master's in nursing at Southern Adventist University. She is a board certified family nurse practitioner with experience across pediatrics, geriatrics, and men's health, and a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She has lived in Cleveland her whole life.
Married to Eric, with daughters Emery and Eden.
Kevin Chin RN, PA-C
Physician Assistant
Kevin has been a registered nurse since 1988 with emergency medicine certification, and completed physician assistant school at the University of North Dakota Grand Forks School of Health Sciences in 1999. He grew up in Omaha, Nebraska and came to Tennessee for his undergraduate degree at Southern College. He joined the DPCA Athens community in 2021 and brings emergency medicine, urgent care, occupational health, and family medicine.
His wife Debbie is an RN in neonatal care. Three children: Kevin in the USAF, Aaron, and Rebecca.
Kelli Noble APRN, DNP, FNP-C
Family Nurse Practitioner
Kelli has been a registered nurse since 1993, starting with a degree from the University of Tennessee Knoxville and working through medical surgical, cardiothoracic step-down, trauma ICU, IV therapy, and diabetes education. She earned her master's in nursing in 2012 and her Doctor of Nursing Practice in 2020, both at Southern Adventist University, and has taught nursing at Cleveland State and Chattanooga State. Family practice is her specialty, with cardiology and gastroenterology experience behind it.
Health care is not just a job. It is a calling to serve.
A lifelong Cleveland resident, married to Louis, with two sons, Sam and Garrett.
Heather Sharp PA-C
Physician Assistant
Heather studied psychology at the University of Tennessee Knoxville and earned a Master of Science in Medicine at Trevecca Nazarene University in 2011. She moved to the Chattanooga area in 2012 and built a career across urgent and primary care. She is certified in lifestyle medicine and joined DPCA in 2024.
Lives in Cleveland with her husband Jon and three children, Addie, Emma, and Grayson. Reading, gardening, and cooking.
Kathleen Griffith FNP
Family Nurse Practitioner
Kathleen was born and raised in Dalton. She took her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of North Georgia and worked medical-surgical nursing at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga, home health for children with acute needs, and community health in Glacier National Park, before returning to the University of North Georgia for her FNP-C certification. Her recent work is pediatric. She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
Married to Win, with two children, Eliza and Malachi.

Mary Steels CMA
Certified Medical Assistant
Mary was DPCA's first full-time care team member, joining in July 2019. She brings over 20 years in the medical field across clinical work, office administration, and occupational health, and holds DOT, COHC, and NIOSH certifications. Her goal is that a patient feels comfortable from the first phone call through walking back out the door.
Married to Dale. Two sons and daughters-in-law, a grandson, and two dogs. Cooking, baking, and travel.
Michelle Ross CMA
Certified Medical Assistant
Michelle has over 10 years in the medical field with a primary care focus, and has worked in occupational health since 2017. She is certified in drug testing, hearing and breathing tests, and breath alcohol testing. She joined DPCA in March 2022. A Bradley County resident, previously Nashville.
Camping, swimming, community events, and time with her daughter, a talented pianist.
Crystal Burns CMA
Occupational Health Coordinator
Crystal has over 20 years in the medical field, certified as a medical assistant since 2001 and working in occupational health since 2005. She holds BAT, DOT, COHC, and NIOSH certifications and joined DPCA in March 2022. She coordinates DPCA's occupational health program and is the person most employer clients deal with directly.

Debbie Chin RN
Registered Nurse
Debbie has spent nearly 40 years in nursing. She graduated from the nursing program at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and has worked in neonatal care.
A wife, mother of three, and grandmother, with a home full of pets. The beach is where she resets.
Mandy Croft LPN
Licensed Practical Nurse
Mandy has spent over a decade in the medical field, starting in healthcare administration and moving into clinical work. She holds phlebotomy certifications and earned her LPN credential in 2020, with experience across home health, sleep medicine, oncology, orthopedics, urgent care, and family practice. Primary care is where she wanted to land.
Married to Steven, with a daughter, Bella. Photography, travel, concerts, and festivals. Known for her vibrant personality and colorful hair. She advocates for bat and reptile rehabilitation and collects crystals and gemstones.
Tammy Nichols CMA
Certified Medical Assistant
Tammy has been a certified medical assistant for 12 years across primary care and occupational health, and graduated from Cleveland State Community College in 2016 with an associate degree in medical assisting. A lifelong McMinn County resident, she joined DPCA in 2026.
Married to Ronnie, with two daughters, Courtney and Julia, and two French bulldogs, Chloe and Lilly. Travel and weekend craft festivals.

Brian Fretwell PA-C, MPH
Founder and Chief Executive Officer
Brian founded DPCA to fix the thing he had watched break for 27 years. He started as a field and flight paramedic, then earned dual degrees in physician assistant studies and public health at Nova Southeastern University, and has practiced across emergency, family, and occupational medicine. Originally from Vero Beach, Florida, he now lives in Cleveland.
Family time, travel, civic work, conservation, hunting, fishing, and Tennessee football.
Beth Prine MBA
Vice President and Chief Operating Officer
Beth practiced physical therapy for over 20 years across outpatient and occupational medicine, carrying management responsibility alongside patient care. She graduated from the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center in Memphis and earned her MBA from Bryan College. She runs DPCA's operations.
Weekend gatherings, cooking, gardening, boating, and lake days with her husband Jeff.
Cathy Thompson Peterson
Controller
Cathy is a Cleveland native with over 20 years in financial and business management. She started working with DPCA shortly after it opened, as a consultant through Fiscal Solutions, and joined the team as Controller in 2021.
It is a privilege to be a part of a team of individuals whom I greatly admire and who are dedicated to providing the best care for their patients.

Jamie Rogers
Account Manager
Jamie graduated from Lee University in 2022 with a bachelor's degree in healthcare administration. Originally from Atlanta, he chose Lee for the family ties that already had him visiting Cleveland regularly. He learned about DPCA in 2021 and set out to work there. He joined in January 2023 and handles new client relationships.
