Membership is not insurance
DPCA is a membership medical practice, not an insurance company. Membership covers care delivered by DPCA and does not replace coverage for major medical events.
A direct primary care membership does not satisfy any federal or state health insurance mandate, including requirements under the Affordable Care Act. The practice does not bill or accept payment from any insurance plan, government payer or third-party administrator for services covered by the membership.
What membership does not cover
Services outside the scope of primary care are not covered. These include, but are not limited to, hospitalization, specialist consultations, emergency services, surgical procedures and advanced diagnostic imaging. Members are responsible for maintaining separate health coverage for those services, and membership fees do not apply toward any insurance deductible.
Medicare
DPCA has opted out of Medicare. Medicare beneficiaries may enroll under a private contract and may not bill Medicare for DPCA services.
Emergencies
The practice does not provide emergency care. In a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
State notices
Tennessee (T.C.A. § 63-1-501 et seq.). This Direct Primary Care Agreement is not insurance and does not satisfy any requirement for health insurance coverage under state or federal law. Fees paid in advance are not earned until the covered month is completed. If the patient terminates this Agreement, any unearned fees will be refunded.
Georgia (O.C.G.A. § 33-7-2.1). This Direct Primary Care Agreement is not insurance. It does not satisfy any requirement for health insurance coverage under state or federal law. You are encouraged to maintain separate insurance for hospital services, specialist care, and catastrophic events.
